About the Artist

Roberto Martinez, known to many as Bobby, is a 35-year-old California native who has proudly called Port Hueneme home since the age of five. His passion for painting began in childhood at Hueneme Elementary, where his vibrant creations quickly caught the attention of classmates. What set Bobby apart was his approach to color—a perspective shaped by his red-green color blindness.

Growing up, Bobby would ask others to describe colors, striving to depict the world as they saw it. This unique challenge inspired his distinct style, which blends bright, surreal hues with realistic elements, inviting viewers to see the world in a new way.

Bobby’s art often draws inspiration from drone photography, offering unique vantage points of nature and cityscapes. His work highlights the beauty of Port Hueneme’s skies, oceans, and mountains, with bold colors and textured landscapes that encourage viewers to stop, reflect, and appreciate the details around them.

After serving four years on the Port Hueneme City Council, including a year as mayor, Bobby is now dedicating himself fully to his art. His first numbered collection, the Hueneme Beach Collection, captures iconic local scenes with an imaginative twist. Each painting tells a story, offering collectors and locals alike a vibrant way to preserve the essence of their community.
